Happy New Year 2013!

Third time's a charm!

Our plans for making pizza on New Year's Day were nearly thwarted.

All the preparation had been done; dough made 2 days in advance, everyone's favorite ingredients waiting in the fridge, and the dough, blissfully resting at room temperature for nearly two and a half hours...then at 3:42pm the sound every cook dreads, a transform popped and 88 homes in our housing tract lost electricity!

SCE's estimated time for fixing the problem unknown.

We are thankful for our long-time friends who let us crash their kitchen on New Year's Day, with our trays of dough, bags of toppings and persnickety pizza making ways.
By far our best pies to date.

"Homemade pizza! Thank you chef Tim!"
If you were wondering about the power, it did finally come back on, the next morning!  We ended up sleeping downstairs on our pull out sofa, with the fireplace on, trying to keep from freezing.  After stumbling around in the dark that night and morning, we are thankful for the basics, like electricity.
