So obviously the pool hasn't been drained yet...our newest hope is that the resurfacing and retiling work will proceed and that the bank would be willing to close escrow and have the work on the gas, heater and P-trap (all requiring inspection by the city) after that.
We got to go and make our choices for the pool today. The item on the left that says TAHOE is going to be the surface color. It looks much darker when wet and will help keep the pool warmer by about 8 degrees. The stone tile on the right will replace the old blue ones that are there now.
Today is the first day of the Bucket Test. Specifically designed to show the severity of the leak by measuring how much lower the pool level is than the bucket of water with each passing day. It's a major leak people, the water level is now below the first step. Five days ago it was filled up to two-and-a-half inches above the base of the tile line. That's a drastic difference. (deep breath)
One of the many things found in Monday's general inspection was that the pool needs to be resurfaced, possibly has a leak and the heater is so old and corroded neither inspector would turn it on for fear it would "blow up." So today we had someone come out to give an estimate on bringing the pool up to code. That includes resurfacing, new heater and a ton of other technical things I don't remember. Final total: $13,564. WHAT?!
