Game Day

Opening Day for the LA Galaxy against the Chicago Fire:

After the fireworks, fans on the far side of the field had enormous banners with the years of MLS Cup wins: 02, 05, 11 and 12.  SO cool!

Today was overcast at our house.  We wore long sleeves, brought our jackets and our collection of Galaxy scarves, of course.  Only to discover, the sun was out in full force upon arrival at the Home Depot Center.

Rett and I treated ourselves to some new baseball caps, woohoo!  (But so much for having only food purchases in the month of March, remember how good I was in February??)

After the game, Rett proudly walking with Liam in all his Galaxy gear, talking about the 4-0 victory.

For someone in our family, the games did not end there...

For Christmas Liam and Grandpere got Lakers tickets!!!

Borrowed a jersey from a friend.

Meeting at the hotel parking lot, so their CAR could pick them up.  Grandpere does everything in style!

Here they are, getting into their ride.
He told me afterward, Grandpere took him to the VIP buffet for dinner.  The food was super yummy and he ate TONS of it.

Lakers beat the Atlanta Hawks, 99-98.  A close and exciting game.  What a memorable experience for my boy and his granddad!

Hair Color Sabatical

Here are just a few of the colors I've sported. Top Row: October 2011 base color then highlights a few days later. Bottom Row July 2012.

That was the last time I colored my hair!! I'd like to see if I can make it to July 2013 before I color again.

I'm making peace with the grays, but just temporarily.

My main motivation is to take a break from the chemical processing...while I still can.

Birthday Brunch

"Went to Nick's on 2nd in Long Beach for a yummy breakfast. #thisiswhat40lookslike"
We made last minute plans, late Saturday night, to meet up for brunch on Sunday.  Long Beach is the half way point for all of us.  This was our first time to Nick's on 2nd.  Grandmere and I shared the fried chicken with waffles, yum!  There coffee is good  too.  We'll definitely go back.
Took pictures all around the table.  Beginning with the pint-sized people, who are all sitting together. They huddle as close together as possible, even though there was plenty of room on that side of the booth.  They like to be close, the closer the better.  Connor and Rett shared the ipad, while Delaney told me about her Irish step dancing.  Too cute!
A few more shots.  All good, except the one of Mere and Pere with the server prepping something in the kitchen, nuts!  Also, I've just realized, Uncle John didn't make it in.  He is in the boy-girl pictures below though.
All the girls in the family together.  I can't believe how tall my niece is getting!

Getting a shot of all the guys in the family wasn't as easy *snicker*.  Check out these faces.  Oh the torture of having to be photographed....you'd think we'd asked them to eat dirt or something.

I also got a special birthday shout out from Cousin Jen.  Don't miss it.  She even talks about my birthday back in 2010.

Instagram photo April 1, 2012 Day 1 Reflection

Well, I'm back to the blog!

It's been nearly two years since I've actually posted...but I miss it...and have thought of returning SO many times.
I've decided to dive right in with this very revealing Instagram photo in the hopes that it will motivate me to get crackin!

Sheesh, what a mess!  I'm now just a teensy bit embarrassed, but today's title was reflection and this pretty much sums it up.

Someone Has a Problem

Apparently, they don't like shoes left out in their closet.

We won't name any names....I on the other love my shoes to be visible, which is the excuse I'm using for not putting them away in a timely fashion.

Though, now that I think about it, this could also be Exibit A for a case attempting to prove my "only-childness", oops!

Last Day of Swim & Things in the Stroller

It's the last day of swimming lessons!  I can hardly believe it.  Rett has been enrolled in swim since he was a baby.

Miss Lisa was our teacher at Mommy and Me swim and has been his instructor for almost every session he's been in since then.  Also, now that the city has changed their sign-ups to on-line, we couldn't even get on the 5 deep waiting list, much less into one of the actual swimming classes.

Oh well, Rett is a fantastic swimmer, but it was nice to have a regular exercise routine besides climbing the walls at home.

This is a shot taken with the camera phone.
We were out shopping with the stroller, yes I still use it, don't make fun, I can hold a lot of bags with that thing...oh, yeah, back to the photo.
So in the little pocket was a pair of glasses.
Not mine.
Let's see when was the last time we used the stroller?
Oh yeah, that's right, SCP.
With was an epic shopping day, since I was out buying gift cards to stores Jr. Highers might like to find in the prize room for the Tech-A-Thon.  Too many stores to count!

Vacuum

This is me attempting to fix the vacuum cleaner.

Don't laugh.

One of the belts broke.  I bought replacement ones.

I just couldn't figure out where the broken one was.

After taking nearly the whole thing apart I found them underneath, but I really did look there first.

So now I know how to fix a vacuum.  I guess that skill will come in handy in another 15 years.

Dance Lessons

Well, Cousin Jen convinced me to go to a WCS (West Coast Swing) dance lesson with her.  A local place in Irvine.

I truly didn't know a thing about it.   Lots of fun learning the steps.

After about an hour there was a mini break and then the open dance portion of the evening began.

My favorite was watching the really good dancers spin around the floor.  The cast of characters was...entertaining. Think "Shall We Dance" the original film (Japanese with English sub-titles).   A mix of people.

I did manage to step on a few toes, but overall no harm done.  It's going to take a lot of practice to make me a decent dance partner....we shall see.

Zumba with the Postage Stamp Ballerina

My Facebook Post today
"Thanks to Cousin Jennifer I've already done the following today: Seen the Pacific Ocean, had a Hazelnut latte, chatted up a Rockette, stood in the pouring rain while holding MY umbrella over the dog to try to coax her to "go", sang the words "Apple bottom jeans...", met the ballerina who was on the 32 cent stamp, and Zumba-ed for the first time...not necessarily in that order."
I had to include the picture of the stamp even though I'm not the one who took the photo.

The rest of my day was spent stapling together my copies from yesterday. These are just revamps of Jog-A-Thon packets I designed years ago for the elementary school.  New name, new logo, a little bit of the information has changed, but the bones of it are the same.  The Tech-A-Thon packets are set to go home with students on Monday.

My hand is going to hurt when these are done.

Vroom, vroom!

Once upon a time Dr T was supposed to get a Harley. This was back in November of 2004. He had taken all the necessary classes, picked out exactly what he wanted and days before the transaction was a done deal found out we were having a baby and got a mini-van instead.

Flash forward to present day. We went to a family BBQ yesterday. Where we saw, amongst others, Uncle Mike and Aunt Beckie. Tim always asks Uncle Mike about his motorcycles and rides he's taken, etc. Uncle Mike mentions that he's not riding quite so much anymore. He tells Tim he can borrow his Harley for an extended amount of time if he wants. After a couple months of using it if he wants to keep it they can make some sort of payment deal...

Tim is so excited about the prospect of a bike! Uncle Mike calls today and says he has some good news and some bad news. Bad news; the Harley isn't going to work out, he wants to keep it. Good news; it's not the only bike he owns so he wants Tim to try out the custom "chopper" instead!

I've rarely seen Dr. T this ecstatic about something, literally jumping up and down with anticipation! It's like seeing a little boy who gets exactly what he wants on Christmas morning.

I just want to take a quick moment to say "thanks" to all those who have aided Tim in getting these toys; the golf hook ups, pinball machines, foosball table, ping-pong accessories, motorcycles, etc. I mean where would I be without you? Probably best not to ponder that too long.

Blood Test & Bunko

He had already watched me have my blood drawn but when it was his time there was a brief moment of panic.  The bravery set in a few moments later.  Daddy's turn came about 15 minutes later.  By that time he was a pro and gave Tim all the necessary instructions for what to do and what to expect.

Fun night rolling the dice, but we missed you Toni!

Birthday

Dinner at PF Changs, Newport Beach

Rett asked where all my other gifts were.

I told him when you're a grown up you only get one gift...but's usually pretty good.
