Game Day

Opening Day for the LA Galaxy against the Chicago Fire:

After the fireworks, fans on the far side of the field had enormous banners with the years of MLS Cup wins: 02, 05, 11 and 12.  SO cool!

Today was overcast at our house.  We wore long sleeves, brought our jackets and our collection of Galaxy scarves, of course.  Only to discover, the sun was out in full force upon arrival at the Home Depot Center.

Rett and I treated ourselves to some new baseball caps, woohoo!  (But so much for having only food purchases in the month of March, remember how good I was in February??)

After the game, Rett proudly walking with Liam in all his Galaxy gear, talking about the 4-0 victory.

For someone in our family, the games did not end there...

For Christmas Liam and Grandpere got Lakers tickets!!!

Borrowed a jersey from a friend.

Meeting at the hotel parking lot, so their CAR could pick them up.  Grandpere does everything in style!

Here they are, getting into their ride.
He told me afterward, Grandpere took him to the VIP buffet for dinner.  The food was super yummy and he ate TONS of it.

Lakers beat the Atlanta Hawks, 99-98.  A close and exciting game.  What a memorable experience for my boy and his granddad!

Art & Soccer Practice

Mediums used today include colored corn syrup, shaving cream, yogurt and mashed potatoes.  This last picture is very Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
The penny is huge on him, but anything to be out there with his team.

Soccer

Notice the matching jersey for the game?

Each time he reallys does prep for "When they need me to run onto the field".

Wonder when, or if, he'll notice this doesn't actually happen?

New Window, Soccer, Swim, Art Day

A very busy day.

Last year I had a difficult time choosing just one photo a day specifically for this reason. We cram a lot into each and every day.
First stop, swimming lessons, at the City Gym and Pool.

Next, art class at the Community Center.

Back to the house to check the progress of the new window.

We'd been planning this new addition for months.  Glad it's finally happening.  The living room was so dark before.  All the natural light is fantastic, as is the extended view of the backyard.

Finally, Rett helping out at soccer practice.

The big boys did have fun trying to see who could do the most push ups with him on their back.  Jake, Griffin and Liam had the most success.  No easy task now that Rett weighs a solid 45 pounds.

Youngest Soccer Player & Copy Machine Help

Making copies at Liam's school.  My little helper moved the "paper guard" and when the Riso machine started copying the papers came flying out the back!
The spring soccer team received their uniforms today.

Coach Ann had a jersey specially made for Rett so he can match the rest of the team...Liam's team!  So sweet!

He's thrilled beyond belief.  Go number 3!

Soccer Practice

Coach Ann brought a mini penny along for Rett to wear.
He loves soccer practice.  Even the sit ups and push ups.
Work 'em Coach Tim.

Gold Sectional Tournament

First place going into the last game.  A points system is used to keep track of the rankings.  The top two points teams play in the championship round.  That's us.  They played beautifully in the first game of the day.  This is the second day with NO subs.  The second game was close, but they just ran out of steam and the other team, with their 3 subs, played incredibly!

Soccer Day

Same scene, same players...different day, different clothes.

Oooh, but Liam scored an amazing goal today.  That was awesome!

Tournament of Friends

Rett was so excited his friends were there...well Liam's friends, same thing so far as he's concerned. Someone to push him on the swings, over and over and over again.

Someone to help get his head in the game....I think?

Hi-5 Tournament

The Gold All Star Team in another practice tournament. They are preparing for their All Star tournament that's just around the corner. It's great to see them finding their positions and working together.

Soccer Tournament

The first time playing together as a team.

Also, their first time playing on AstroTurf.

The tournament was held at Junipero Serra High School. Wow, that was a lovely facility!

Soccer Makes Us Tired

Playing at the Area Championships, Day 1.

Back at the ranch we are ready to relax and have some down time....except for the dog. She misses us terribly when we're gone. So she's super hyper and all over us when we're home. Even my eye's don't have enough energy to be open all the way.

Turkey Shootout

This team was assembled just for this tournament.

Wow, the competition was tough, including several AYSO Elite teams who had been playing together awhile.

It was a great learning experience for our boys. Win, lose or draw, they are the kind of kids that just love to play the game.

 They finished 4th overall.

Middle School Tournament

Beef Jerky, the snack that goes with us everywhere. Watching all the games. Oh, and the cheerleaders.

Waiting for the medals and announcements.

This year's champions....the T-birds! Congratulations to Liam and his team.

Region Champs

Liam's team played a great season. The team they beat handily on Saturday was their opponent this evening.

It was a great game of soccer, tied up all the way through double-overtime into penalty kicks.

Jonathon was the only player able to plant the ball in the net during this phase and that one kick gave Apocalypse the victory.

The newly crowned Region Champions will now move on to the Area Tournament in a few weeks.

Soccer Fan

A quick pic of Rett's gear that goes with us to every game: special folding blanket, flannel on one side, moisture resistant on the other side, and of course the bucket o'toys, his constant companion.

Painting the Soccer Fields

Here is THE machine.

With Dr T out of town I'm supposed to be painting the soccer fields in preparation for today's games, but I forgot!

Luckily, my husband called me early this morning to check and see how it went....oops.

I'm sure I was quite the site, literally just rolled out of bed, out there pushing this thing around!
