House Measurements

Went to see Kiki and John's new place.  They are planning on making lots of changes.  These will be refered to as the "before" pictures.
The midget tub/shower was my favorite.  Maybe the previous occupants bathed their dogs at home...or perhaps they were obsessive feet washers?
Say good bye to the kitchen.  It will never look the same again. This picture represents many decades.  See if you can spot them all.
Taking measurements in the bedroom.  This room has so much natural light.  It's really great in person.
Hardwood floor underneath.  One of the benefits of an older home. Yay!

Mold update

Well apparently someone from the bank has been by to bust a big whole in the wall between the kitchen and the living room. This must have been their way of checking that the two mold readings we got were in fact correct.
This is way more mold than I was thinking would be in the wall. Wow!
The good news is that our agent, heard from the bank's agent today and they are prepared to foot the bill for remediating the mold, woohoo! This is overwhelming evidence indeed.

It's Gonna Cost How Much?

One of the many things found in Monday's general inspection was that the pool needs to be resurfaced, possibly has a leak and the heater is so old and corroded neither inspector would turn it on for fear it would "blow up." So today we had someone come out to give an estimate on bringing the pool up to code. That includes resurfacing, new heater and a ton of other technical things I don't remember. Final total: $13,564. WHAT?!

The Inspections

What can I say about inspection day, it's the day the inspector tells you the house you are buying has a thousand things wrong with it. It makes you think twice about whether this is a wise decision or NOT. That's pretty stardard. However, what's not standard is what they found under and behind these beautiful kitchen cabinets. Here are some hints: moisture, professional hygenist, air quality, spore levels, that's right MOLD.

Next step, an estimate on mold remediation. *crying*
